Head, Collection Management

Summary:
Senior level position for an energetic, innovative, and team oriented
individual who will provide overall leadership, management and direction
for collection development and evaluation in the main health sciences
library and two clinical branches.

Responsibilities:
Monitor expenditures for information resources (currently $1.2 million)
and recommend allocations for various fund categories
Manage the library's electronic resources licensing
Manage book approval plan with input from librarian liaisons
Perform information control and management (cataloging) in the campus
online catalog and OCLC for all materials formats
Create guidelines for collection development that reflect the mission
and goals of library
Manage the selection process and acquisition of materials in all formats
Oversee serials check-in and bindery operations
Participates in the creation of future digital library initiatives,
including metadata services
Supervise 4.5 FTE staff (2 librarians)
Reports to the Director, Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library

Qualifications
ALA accredited MLS
Five years professional experience in an academic library
Electronic resources management experience
Demonstrated competence in the use of an integrated library system
Substantial budgetary experience
Demonstrated successful supervisory experience, especially training and
development skills
Experience with MARC formats, OCLC for original and copy cataloging
Excellent computer skills, especially with spreadsheet software

Preferred
Knowledge of issues and trends in health sciences collection management
Experience with the Sirsi Unicorn system
Knowledge of HTML, SGML, XML, and emerging metadata standards
Experience in a medical/health sciences library
Membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals

Salary is based on qualifications and experience.  Minimum salary for
this position is $50,000.
