eblast http://invention.swmed.edu/etblast/index.shtml does something
similar - input a disorder and it searches for articles then ranks the primary
authors. The ones with the most publications on the subject are identified as
experts. No solicitation. eblast also allows you to input a paragraph of
significance and search for similar articles.

The purpose of the site is to provide names and contact information for physicians listed as noted experts in their field. This information can then be used for patients to "identify" physicians most able to treat. The entries are based on the number of publications the physician has authored that have been indexed in MEDLINE.  The information for each medical condition is listed alphabetically. It seems, although I do not know for sure, the information available comes from a product similar to Science Citation Index/Web of Science. There is mention that the producers of the site were formerly associated with Johns Hopkins and Harvard Universities; however, there is no record of their current affiliations. Not only does the site take monetary donations for already existing subjects, they accept payment to "speed along the process" of adding new subjects to the site. There is also a testimonial section where the only comment is from the founder. Your thoughts and comments are appreciated! I have formed a general opinion, but would like to see what you all know. Please contact me directly off-list and if there is interest, I will summarize for the list. Thanks in advance, Jonna ******************************************************* Jonna Peterson, MLIS Education Coordinator The Library of Rush University Medical Center 600 South Paulina St. Chicago, IL 60612 (312) 942-2274 (312) 942-3143 Fax [log in to unmask]
