Medlibbers:
I'm appealing to your collective wisdom to help me with this one. One of our
directors would like to know the utilization rates per 1000 people for
non-invasive cardiac testing. I asked for more clarification and was told
that utilization rate is the number of uses per 1000 people: i.e. 60 people
per 1000 are in need of an echocardiogram or stress test. I asked for more
clarification and have not received a reply in the week since.
I'm at a loss as to where to look for this information. I have tried
Medline, Health Care Advisory Board, our Solucient data and the web. The
best thing I could find was the report Non-Invasive Cardiac Testing in
Ontario: http://www.ices.on.ca/file/Cardiac_Testing%20Report_Oct_2004.pdf
<http://www.ices.on.ca/file/Cardiac_Testing%20Report_Oct_2004.pdf> All of
the statistics are for Ontario so that part isn't going to make my director
happy, but the narrative had some interesting points.
I'm sure there is something I'm missing. I would appreciate any hints you
can provide.
Thank you!
