Dear Ann,
I offer internet classes here, and get around the scheduling issues by
offering classes at the following times:
for Medical Staff: Saturdays from 9:00-11:00 a.m.
evenings at 6:30 or 7:00 for 1.5 to 2 hours.
for hospital staff I schedule the class to begin a half hour after a
shift ends, or at 8:00 am or 4:00 pm. These also run from 1.5 to 2
hours. I also run one at 1:30 in the afternoon for those not limited by
shift times.
We have a computer classroom with 14 PCs, although I prefer to limit the
class to no more than 8 people. I find that it helps to have a second
person in the room with me either as a floater to help those people who
are not particularly computer-literate and get stuck, or to do the
keying on the PC attached to the projector so that I can be the
floater. Otherwise you can lose precious time getting slowed down by
one or two people who can't keep up as easily. I also encourage people
to just watch the projection screen and take notes rather than try to
keep up with keying along on their PC.
Hope this helps.
