Just wanted to warn all you Netscape users that this CD-ROM program, MKSAP
11 does not run on Netscape. It only works with Internet Explorer. There
was no indication on the ACP website, www.acponline.org, or on the outward
packaging of the box that indicated IE was required.

Our institutional policy supports Netscape only and does not support
IE. If an individual loads IE on their computer they are not guaranteed
technical support.

We have been doing a pretty good job of screening programs to meet our
technical specifications, but this one slipped through. When I spoke to
the product manager at ACP, he was unaware that this would be a problem,
they assumed that if you use Windows 95, 98, or NT then you would have
Internet Explorer loaded. I can't believe we are the only institution that
uses Netscape exclusively. I advised him to change the listed
requirements for the program. They are talking about maybe making the next
version browser independent, but that won't come out until fall 2000.

We have passed this information along to some of our ACP members on
campus, in hopes that they will be able to bring some weight to bear on
the ACP in making changes to their software programming practices.

Regards,
