Wonderful, "enlightened," and inexpensive decision which satisfies all of
the facets you presented. Kudos.

Subject: Re: Advice on recommended book purchase - my solution
My thanks to all who weighed in on this inquiry with thoughtful and sensible
comments. Here's what I've decided to do:
I am going to purchase the requested books - they are both out of print but
available for a few bucks on Amazon.com. Declining to purchase them after a
specific request has been made is not a battle worth fighting. I do have a
handful of general management / leadership philosophy titles, so they will
go in there. BUT because of the requested books' explicitly evangelical
Christian viewpoint, in accordance with our stated commitment to cultural
diversity and nondiscrimination, I am also going to purchase a few
additional titles (also available for about $10 each) to accompany them:
Beekun, R A: *Leadership: an Islamic perspective* - ISBN 9780915957941
Metcalf, F: *What would Buddha do at work?* - ISBN 9781569753002
Zweifel, T: *The rabbi and the CEO* - ISBN 9781590791509
I am being flexible in response to a patron / administrative request,
offering a variety of resources on a particular topic, and assuaging my own
discomfort for less than $50. And if anyone ever comes to read any of them,
perhaps they will be "enlightened."
Namaste!
