Library staff attend new employee orientation (held monthly) and I
provide a one hour presentation on the Medical Library (30 mins) and
another Library staff person provides a presentation on the Consumer
Health Library (30 mins).

It is held over 3 days, once per month (drop dead boring, except our
presentation, of course).

Our presentation focuses on Information Literacy theory/applications,
not on the library....We focus on our services as well....

We also send personal emails and target managers, nurse educators,
directors, VP's....We invite them to book time with us for a 45 min
personal introduction to Library Services/Resources...

I also developed a small "welcome package" with a bookmark, welcome
letter, our Education calendar, business cards, and a quick PDF printout
of our services...

We do the same "welcome package" for our students too (Nursing, Allied
Health, and Medical)

Subject: New hires

Hi everyone

Does anyone send out emails or information to new hires at their
hospitals? I'm thinking it would be a great way to reach out to new
staff, but I was wondering if anyone has any tips or hints for me. We
do have information sheet in the orientation folders, but we are unable
to get any presentation time at orientation, despite our inquiries.

Thanks and I will review for the group if desired!
