Hello,

We purchased a subscription to FIRSTConsult a few months ago. Our
library staff and users like the product itself but we are having a
problem with how slow it is to use, especially from off-campus. We
continue to field complaints from our users - some have said it is so
slow that they have given up trying to use it from off campus. This is
particularly frustrating since one of the reasons for going with FC is
that off-campus access is included for a reasonable cost (we can no
longer afford off-campus access to UpToDate and needed to offer
something else to our residents and students ). We reported the problem
to FC early on and they have been very responsive, trying various
solutions. We even gave their IT people temporary access to our proxy
server. They are nice folks to work with and they agree that there is a
problem but after trying everything they say they can think of, believe
it is a problem on our end. Our IT people say it's a FIRSTConsult issue.

We don't have a problem with our other e-resources being particularly
slow. Has anyone else experienced a problem with FIRSTConsult being
slow? If anyone has suggestions/recommendations/comments, please let me
know.

Thanks!

Catherine
