Job Description:
The Riverside University Health System (RUHS) is seeking a Medical Library Coordinator for their Medical Center in Moreno Valley, CA.
The Medical Library Coordinator will coordinate the needs of the medical library including outreach and resources acquisition. The Medical Library Coordinator will be responsible for promoting the resources of the library to staff members, helping the research team conduct literature searches and holding demonstrations and training sessions.
Examples of essential duties:
Develops and maintains the medical library collection and is administratively responsible for all departmental collections; identifies and evaluates new materials for acquisition.
Reviews and disposes of outdated material; orders and receives materials; classifies and catalogs materials.
Provides technical assistance to users; performs literature searches; arranges interlibrary loans.
Prepares a variety of reports; promotes the library through public speaking engagements; supervises clerical support and volunteers.
Develops quality assurance programs; develops policies and procedures.
Recruiting guidelines
2 years of experience in a medical library performing cataloging, receiving, circulation lending, and reference duties. (1 year of experience can be substituted with 1 year of experience performing the above duties in a public or academic library).
AND EITHER
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Library Science, Library Services, Library Informatics or a closely related field.
OR
Possession of a certificate as a Library Technician or Library Technology from a recognized college.
Desired: Experience with Microsoft SharePoint
Physical Requirements: (with or without reasonable accommodation): The Medical Library Coordinator will move heavy books and retrieve books from high books shelves.
