Subject: Re: Replacement for Beall's yet
I came across https://beallslist.weebly.com/. See this disclaimer at the Weebly.com site: "I am not Jeffrey Beall. I prefer my identity to be anonymous, largely for the reasons that Beall mentioned in his recent article http://www.biochemia-medica.com/system/files/27_2_J.Beall__What%20I%20learne
d%20from%20predatory%20publishers.pdf. However, I can tell you that I am a postdoctoral researcher in one of the european universities and have a hands-on experience with predatory journals. I will keep the list updated as much as possible, although I suspect I simply won't have time to do as thorough job as Beall. Hopefully people will point me to the new, possibly predatory journals and publishers. However, expect the list's applicability to diminish over time. That is why I strongly suggest anyone that deals with publishing academic articles to read the information available on ThinkCheckSubmit.org, which has tips about how to publish in a journal that is not predatory. I would also suggest you to read Beall's criteria for identifying a predatory publisher https://beallslist.weebly.com/uploads/3/0/9/5/30958339/criteria-2015.pdf."
Also: Recently Cabell's launched a Blacklist after Beall's stopped publishing http://www.cabells.com/about-blacklist: "...the only blacklist of deceptive and predatory academic journals. Specialists analyze over 60 behavioral indicators to keep the community abreast of the growing threats and to keep researchers protected from exploitative operations. Access a database of detailed reports for every journal that our specialists have evaluated and flagged as a probable threat. Each report provides ways to identify the journal and enumerates the specific predatory behaviors that the evaluation revealed." (Patricia also checked that)
For future reference, see "Cabell's New Predatory Journal Blacklist: A Review." Includes pros and cons of Cabell's and Beall's lists.

Directory of Open Access Journals doesn't offer a blacklist per see but here is their policy: "DOAJ prefers to use the term 'questionable' instead of predatory. We do not believe in black lists and we do not discuss details of individual publishers or journals, with the public, whether they are in DOAJ or not. We will provide advice, when asked, on improvements a journal can make to meet our own high standards. We believe that, when confronted with a possible questionable journal, it is our duty to review it as objectively as possible. That is why every single application is reviewed by 4 different individuals. Difficult cases are discussed at team meetings. In general, we communicate extensively with applicants to pin down the facts of their application and be certain of the all-important details. We operate under a disclaimer that allows us to remove journals from DOAJ without warning. It is important to remember that questionable publishing practices are not restricted to open access publishing alone but, sadly, are seen throughout academic publishing. If you believe that you have found a questionable journal in DOAJ, please contact us: feedback[at]doaj[.]org. All information shared with DOAJ is done so in the strictest confidence, is anonymous and is never published."

Subject: Replacement for Beall's yet
While Beall's list exists in archive version. I was wondering if there is a replacement out there yet. I thought I remember something about a group/company (not sure) working (with Beall?) to replicated the list.
Anybody know?
Michelle
