I have not been reading these in full, just skimming, so someone might
have already suggested the following:
 
Let's look at this as an "opportunity" to market and advertise - get only
pencils, pens and memor pads that have the Library's name and log printed
clearly, and let them disappear...
 
(there might very well be a "black hole" somewhere, where all those millions
of pens disappear to - think I have heard some comedian do a piece on
this mystery ).
