**ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR**
REGIONAL MEDICAL LIBRARY PROGRAM

The Mid-Continental Region of the National Network
of Libraries of Medicine at the University of Utah
seeks an Associate Director for the (new) RML
Program. He/she will have broad responsibilities
including planning, coordinating and implementing of
innovative programs administered throughout the 6-
state region.  This includes utilization of the networked
computer environment and collaboration with RML
Liaisons and colleagues at Resource Libraries. It also
includes meeting the needs of end-users including
hospital librarians, health professionals, consumers,
public libraries and others needing health information.
On-site staff will include an Administrative Assistant,
an Assistant Director for Technology and a part time
Accountant. Off-site staff will include eight RML
Liaisons, each of whom will have local and regional
duties in one of the following areas: Consumer Health,
Outreach, Education, Inner City Services, Library
Improvement, Public Health, Technology, and
Assessment and Evaluation. Specific functions also
include preparing progress reports, writing annual
program objectives and budgets, monitoring
compliance with NN/LM and university guidelines,
coordinating the RMLP membership and
communications program, editing of the RML web site,
administering the education and training program and
the outreach program as well as coordinating exhibits
and presentations.
Qualifications: MLS from an accredited graduate
program. Ability to effectively communicate verbally
and in writing. Proven analytical and planning skills.
Ability to organize workflow and coordinate activities.
Ability to establish working relationships with RMLP
staff and Liaisons as well as library colleagues, health
professionals and consumers. Knowledge of
information technology and health information
resources.  Experience in a health sciences library or
regional medical library program preferred.
Compensation: Salary based on qualifications and
experience, excellent benefits.
