I don't think that was it at all. I think it was probably a resource he
uses so he is asking whether we have it. I don't think he would have
cared what product it was but rather what it did. They actually took a
look at some of our resources on our intranet site.

I think we all should be looking on the positive side to this
interaction not the negative aspects. I wrote to the list because I was
so surprised that they actually came to the library at all, that they
had good questions, and that they had interest in what I had to say.

I am hoping this is a change that we are all going to see with them as
we sure could use it.

I wonder if that JC examiner was an editor for UpToDate and had
financial ties to it? Brings up an interesting ethics question.

Subject: Clarification on Joint Commission Visit

The physician examiner asked about UpToDate when we were discussing the
databases. Maybe it is something he personally uses and wondered if we
had it too. I don't think it would matter if it was UpToDate or another
product. He appeared to be interested in what we had for the physicians.
Besides the databases, he was very interested in CME resources. The
examiners were escorted to the library by our quality person who said
they had asked to come to the library as they had a few questions for
me.
