*Job Title*: Research and Instruction Librarian
*Job Description:*
The Research and Instruction Librarian is responsible for providing library
services in support of research productivity, teaching, and learning.
Reporting to the Director, Health Sciences Library, this faculty position
participates in the formal educational efforts of the Library, including
the development of instructional materials, research guides, web tutorials,
videos, and other support services. The incumbent provides consultations
and instruction in bibliographic research methods, evidence-based medicine,
research data management, scholarly communication, and systematic reviews.
This position will cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships with
students, faculty, preceptors, and staff in support of campus research,
teaching, and learning. The Research and Instruction Librarian will also
serve as librarian liaison for the College of Osteopathic Medicine and the
College of Pharmacy programs.
*Essential Duties:*
Research Services:
· Provides information, reference, and consultation on research
tools, using and retrieving the literature, and effectively managing
citations with bibliographic management software; develops, maintains, and
promotes research guides for specific programs and topics.
· Provides expert literature search services in support of
education, research projects, systematic reviews, and research data
management.
· Participates on committees in support of research, teaching, and
clinical care activities.
Instruction:
· Provides formal and informal education courses, seminars,
webinars, and workshops in support of research development across the
university; develops online tutorials in support of research, information
literacy, and evidence-based medicine.
· Designs and delivers instruction on the effective searching of
biomedical and health sciences databases, critical appraisal of search
results, evidence-based medicine, and point-of-care tools; delivers library
instruction using library and information technology software and tools
including course management systems, screencasting, and web conferencing.
Liaison Librarian:
· Serves as liaison for the College of Osteopathic Medicine and the
College of Pharmacy programs.
· Maintains current knowledge of the trends and issues in higher
education, health care, research data management, and scholarly
communication.
· Participates in library collection development activities.
This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive and the employee
will also perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by the
Library Director.
*Minimum Qualifications:*
· Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library and information
sciences program; excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
*Preferred Qualifications:*
· Experience in the design and delivery of user-centered
information literacy and evidence-based medicine instruction for adult
learners within a health care environment; experience in the development of
instructional materials, program and research guides; video, and web
tutorials; skill in the design and delivery of team-based learning, or
other active learning instructional sessions.
