We have a drug shortage that will be affecting the drug being given to a 7 month old. I need to get copies of these articles fast. They are trying to find written instructions for compounding neomycin. They have the ingredients from the pharmaceutical company but no written directions. I'm not sure if these articles will help. Neomycin is an old drug and it was used this way long ago but not recently have they need to break up the pills to make the compound.

All of these are from the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Compounding which isn't even indexed in PubMed and is only in EMBASE for a few years back.

Metronidazole and Neomycin Sulfate Irrigation Solution

Recommendations for compounding medications for feeding tube administration
Klang M. International Journal of Pharmaceutical Compounding 2010 14:4 (276-282)

Compounding for a Pediatric Hospital
Author(s): McElhiney Linda F

Pediatric Oral Liquid Preparations
Fonseca Simonne C, Ferreira Anderson de O
Nov/Dec 2005
437-442

We are hoping something from one of these will help or at least give them some guidelines to use.

Thanks in advance!!!!!!

Julie
