Hello esteemed colleagues - I'm hoping that there are some out there who can
help me with a rather tricky problem. Our internal medicine faculty have
purchased Blackboard and are planning on using it to develop curriculum and
measure residents' progress. One of the components that they would like to
include is Internal Medicine board review questions taken from an
established source, such as Harrison's or MKSAP or FrontRunners. I am on
the curriculum committee and explained to the committee that it would be a
violation of copyright to lift questions from those sources for use on
Blackboard. Several of the committee members asked if we could purchase an
online edition of a board review book to post on Blackboard. I explained
that we would need to purchase an institutional, or group license if we
wanted to avoid copyright issues. Problem is, I can't seem to find such an
animal. Many of the print sources offer a CD version as well, but that
won't satisfy copyright.
Has anyone else confronted this problem? Is there a solution?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I will summarize if there
is enough interest/response.
Molly
