I've also had similar experiences with relatively recent versions of each
browser - including ALA site with proposed Information Literacy standards.
I commented on this to OFFCAMP list and heard back from many others who had
no problems and some who did.

I never had this level of difficulty until getting a laptop with Windows 98
and upgrading my desktop to Windows 98. I know have 98 on both. Others
with a similar Windows 98 experience? Or am I paranoid?

Since I'm writing during downtime at a NN/LM exhibit, I'm not about to
download upgrades on a poor hoel line. However, I will try that when I get
back to my home office, and report back to both lists. Neeles to say, I'm
aggravated. If either would work all the time, it would be easier to do
demos without looking stupid. As it is, I keep both open in public
situations. However, I also have problem with just one!

How ironic! I *just* tried to connect to LocatorPlus using IE 5.00 and for
the second day in a row got a "Your connection to LOCATORplus has timed
out." response. Odd since I had just opened the URL; this has happened
before too. I tried refresh, closed and re-opened IE and all to no avail. I
closed IE, opened Netscape 4.6 and had no problem at all.

Despite what the skeptics may say, and despite our local policy to support
only IE, I still think it best to have both browsers available.
