Hello List,
Last ditch effort for the doc's query. His question is if there's any literature on postoperative throat pain after general anesthetic?
I think I've used every combination of terms I can think of but there could be a deficit of literature out there. He wants to know how to treat his patient who had surgery 8 months ago and still has throat pain.
My searches in PubMed: throat pain[MeSH] AND postoperative period; post intubation pain; postoperative sore throat POST; POST following intubation and many other terms. Four articles were not good hits.
He suggested next that I try Complex Regional Pain Syndrome/CPRS of the throat. Many combos later, not really what he wants. I cannot find a good term for "chronic." Lots of info on how to prevent POST but not for pain 8 months post op.
Should I give up? Thanks all.
Robyn
