Always an excellent meeting for librarians to attend for networking and
coming up-to-date on new issues, policies and educational initiatives in the
sciences, this year's Annual Meeting "Science Without Borders" highlights
educational, technological and research initiatives that cross conventional
boundaries. The 2011 Meeting has been organized into tracks that include
"Education", "Emerging Science and Technology", "Science and Society", "The
Science Endeavor", and several science topics including climate, human
biology, energy and lands and oceans. The full list of sessions is
available in the November 6, 2009 issue of Science while a listing with
brief descriptions is available at the AAAS Annual Meeting webpage at:
http://www.aaas.org/meetings/.
In addition, there will be a Librarian Orientation held for all librarians
attending the meeting on Saturday, February 19 from 3-5 PM.
As for last year, The Science and Technology Section (STS) of ACRL has
successfully negotiated complimentary registrations for librarians attending
the AAAS meetings in Washington DC this year. To be eligible for these
complimentary registrations, you cannot have previously received a
complimentary registration to the AAAS meetings. Complimentary registrations
will be given on a first-come, first serve basis to eligible librarians. You
do NOT have to be a member of AAAS to attend and receive these rates.
If you are interested in taking advantage of the free registration, do not
register at the AAAS Meeting website. Instead, fill out the short form at
the end of this email and forward this email on to Diane C. Rein,
Bioinformatics and Molecular Biology Information Liaison at
[log in to unmask] Diane will confirm receipt of your request. Once the first
30 registrants have been identified, you will be notified if you have
received a free registration along with additional instructions.
