           ACC is a multi-campus urban community college
                 serving over 25,000 students
           at six campuses and multiple extension sites.
 
DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR DUTIES AND TASKS
  Reports to the dean of LRS and is responsible for the operation and
  management of a busy Technical Services department -- cataloging,
  acquisitions, serials, interlibrary loan, materials processing and library
  automation (Dynix).  Supervises one faculty librarian  (System
  Administrator) and seven FTE technical staff.  LRS materials budget is
  $350,000+.
 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience or be
  able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable
  accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  Minimum six years experience directly related to technical services
  operation.  Excellent supervisory, organizational, automation and budget
  management skills.  Must have a vision for the future of technical services
  in an electronic information environment.  Must have evidence of and
  commitment to professional development.  Prefer 3 years experience as
  manager of a Technical Services department.  Prefer an  enthusiastic,
  innovative and self-motivated individual with effective people skills.
 
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
  Education:  ALA-accredited MLS
 
LOCATION:  District Administrative Offices
 
HOURS:  8:00am - 5:00pm,  Mon-Fri;  Evenings/Weekends as needed
 
SALARY:   $34,117 - $47,597 annually (9+3 contract)(FY94) depending on
          relevant experience and education, plus annual administrative
          stipend of $1500
