*Moretown** Elementary School** Board Meeting*

*Thursday, November 2, 2006*

*Present:* Board members Lisa Ransom, Jay Pilliod,  Amy Bolger and



principal Roberta Barone

*Absent: *Superintendent Bob McNamara

The meeting was called to order at HUHS at 5:47 p.m. by Lisa Ransom, who was



chairing the meeting in Deb Hunter?s absence.



*Principal?s Report*

* *

Roberta noted that staff have been discussing emergency preparedness and
are finalizing



a plan. They will engage in preparedness drills and practice securing
the building (?lock



downs?) in the coming weeks. A letter will go home to parents advising
them of this;



  there will be an assembly to communicate with students . Board members
agreed to



allocate $4650 to change door locks.



Roberta reported that the budget YTD is on track.



Finally, Roberta reported that she attended a conference last week. The
topic was



?formative? assessment, a powerful means to enhance student learning
which, among



other things, will help MES teachers prepare students for testing,
design optimal teaching



strategies and meet accountability expectations. Roberta has shared what
she learned



with faculty who are implementing formative assessments in the classroom.







*Faculty Contract Negotiation Report*

Jay attended the 10/30 meeting at which it was agreed that there will be
one meeting per



month, with the goal of wrapping up negotiations in four months.



*Superintendent Bob McNamara joined the meeting at 6:40.*

*Superintendent?s Report*

Bob had nothing extraordinary to report and stated that everything was
going along



fine.

*Washington** West Executive Committee Report*

* *

There was no report on this meeting since John Schmeltzer was absent.



*WSI-Town** Land** Deal Update*

Amy and Lisa updated Jay, Roberta and Bob on discussions at recent joint
meetings.

In a motion by Jay, seconded by Amy, the board approved the following
board orders:

# 30 for $1196.14; #31 for $41.99; #32 for $143.58; #33 for $80.41; #34
for $32,155.39;



#s 35 and 36 for $12,125.13 and #37 for $4,694.31, all dated 10/13/06.
Also, #38 for



$82,082.82, dated 10/25/06.
