UVM has run a Math Poster contest for the past 10 years.  This year the
theme is Shapes and Sizes.  The deadline is March 31.  You can read the

Dear Principal or Teacher:

In celebration of the Eighteenth Annual National Mathematics Awareness
Celebration, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University
of Vermont is sponsoring a poster contest.  Last year the contest drew over
500 entries from 50 different schools, and this year we hope the response
will be even better.  The 2004 contest theme (which does not have to be
written on the poster) will be SHAPES AND SIZES!  In each grade, K  8, one
poster will win $25 and 5 runner-ups will each receive a Certificate of Merit.

Winners will be notified on or before April 21.  A complete list of all
winners will be mailed to participating schools by the end of
May.  Selected posters will be displayed in the main stairwell in the
Waterman Building at the University of Vermont from April 26 to May 10.

All posters must be received by March 31, 2004.  The rules for the contest
are as follows:
1.      All posters become the property of the Department of Mathematics
and Statistics and will not be returned.  All rights for use and
reproduction of the posters belongs to the Department of Mathematics and
Statistics.

2.      Posters must be no larger than 12 inches by 18 inches.

3.      Any medium can be used.

4.      One entry per student.

5.      Students should put their Name, Grade, Teacher's Name, and School
on the back of the poster.  Please include a copy of the entry form with
your posters.
