I just checked the enrollment for the TI-Nspire summer three day workshops at SBHS on Aug 8-10. The high school session has 27 enrolled and TI will close it at 30 and place persons on a waiting list. The middle school session has 7 enrolled and TI will make a decision about mid-July whether or not to run it. They say that they require 15 to run. I am hopeful that we will get more registrants prior to the decision date. There are only 7 middle school workshops in the US this summer. The others are in FL. LA, WV, GA, MI, and CT. CT is "closed" as they got 30 registrants. The only ones left open are GA, VT and MI. If you are interested in the middle school workshop, please register soon. Go to www.tinspire2011 to register. This is a tremendous opportunity for VT. I realize that these handhelds are probably viewed as being too sophisticated for middle school students. I do want you to know that your students do not have to have them for you to utilize them with many rich activiites in your classes. At the three day you will get a handheld and Teacher Edition software that allows you to project an emulator of the handheld onto a white board and/or a smartboard. The new handheld is in color. The new teacher edition software allows for videos! You really have to see it to believe it! So, if you are thinking of registering...please do so soon. Jean McKenny [log in to unmask]
