Subject: CHAT clients

In CIT we have been experimenting with the CHATOPUS client. It is the
only chat client we have discovered that supports Jabber (ala
chat.uvm.edu) and SSL.

We're not completely happy with it. Using SSL requires that it stay in
the foreground (so you can't switch to another application -- say an SSH
session where you are actually fixing the problem you are chatting with
your cow-orkers about). It also, only supports Jabber and even if it
did support AIM/MSN/Yahoo (etc) it will connect to a single server at a
time -- so we wouldn't be able to chat with the Vendor and the co-worker
at the same time.

Has anyone found a chat client that supports Jabber with SSL and does
not have the requirement that it stay the active application?
