Assistant Assessor Position
The Town of Hartford seeks a team oriented, self-motivated Assistant Assessor to work in a dynamic office setting. This is a full-time position in which the primary responsibility is to assist in all functions and activities of the Assessor's Office for the compiling and maintaining of an annual grand list of real property values for the Town of Hartford.

The Assistant Assessor shall possess a broad base of technical knowledge and skills related to the principles and practices of mass real estate appraisal, including good working knowledge of pertinent real property laws, building construction techniques and accepted practices. Must be proficient in the use of a computer and computer programs, typing and other office equipment. Must have the ability to deal with a diverse group of people, town and state officials, town employees, residents, non-residents, brokers, attorneys and others in a courteous and efficient manner; may include high levels of stress at various times of the year. Must have good general administrative skills; reading, writing and math skills; previous experience working with computerized records systems preferred. Current Vermont Appraisers License and/or Vermont Property Assessors Designation (VPA) desirable.

Candidate must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience of which comparable knowledge and skills were acquired. Must be proficient in the principles and practices of mass appraisal or 3-5 years' experience in appraising or related field.  A current Appraisers License and/or Vermont Property Assessors Designation (VPA) desirable.  A detailed job description is available at http://www.hartford-vt.org/Jobs.aspx .
