Putney realigned salaries for January 1, 2020.
We have a four person Highway Department with a working Road Superintendent. All our drivers have CDL.
Our Road Superintendent was adjusted to 58,822 from 55,000 with a 2% COLA expected in July. We eliminated his 80 hours of compensation time hence the increase. This is a salary position.
We brought hourly salaries to 18.00 - 22.00 effective 1.1.2020. Three will not get the 2% as they are substantially increased from as low as 14.85 per hour. The fourth member will see a 2%.
We were able to increase salaries on 1/1/2020 because we have carried an extra employee at 15.00 per hour (31,200) with a full benefits package (32,904).
We base raises on COLA and CPI which is 1.6 and 1.8% respectively. 2% is generous.
We realigned salaries to be competitive and based on the 15.00 per hour minimum wage by 2024.

Subject: [MUNINET] Road crew salary?
We are working on our budget for town meeting and would like to know what other towns are paying their Forman and road crew? Also does everyone automatically give a cost of living raise or do you have some kind of step system?
Thanks
