The UVM-Master of Public Administration degree program is a 36-credit hour program. Learners complete five core courses and an administrative internship. The remaining credits are chosen from courses offered within our program taught by professors from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds. Working with an academic advisor, students formulate a plan of study that meets individual needs. This course focuses on organizational culture, organizational learning, conflict resolution, leadership-followership, motivation in decision making and brainstorming for alternative solutions by a competent and diverse work force. Specific skill sets are included for each topic, as well as outcomes assessment. Enrollment Limit: 20.
Public Budgeting & Public Finance with Richard Campbell

This course is an introductory survey of public budgeting and financial management. The purpose is to explore fundamental ideas, concepts, and theories that contribute to understanding complex public sector revenue and expenditure decisions, and to examine basic practices and techniques of modern financial administration. An effort is made to cover national, state, and local budget systems. Note: students must contact the MPA office to obtain course materials and other pertinent information for this class (656-0041). Non-Profits & the Environment with Gary Flomenhoft

Students explore the origins of the contemporary environmental movement and the response of the non-profit sector to the environmental crisis. Specific focus is given to civil society's emergent role within public debates and legislation concerning environmental policy. Enrollment Limit: 20.
