I record oaths in the town record book, but I abbreviate them - I have a
document that is the oath, with a note below: the foregoing oath was sworn
by the following: and then I add the names, offices, date taken, and who
administered the oath, so after town meeting when I record all of the
officers, it's only one page.

Subject: Retention
We are hoping to make some room in the vault for new shelving so have been
reviewing "boxes" and the Retention list with hopeful eyes.
So the Oath of Office of Town Officials - states: 3 years if recorded.

What does "if recorded" mean? We don't record which means another binder in
the vault.
We also have changes to the Town Plan & Zoning Regulations which the Clerk
takes in once ready for the public. I'm assuming that these never get
destroyed even though they are located in the Town Manager area.
Thanks for your thoughts,
Barbara Taylor
