What would the exemption be for? Because he is in prison? Or is he a veteran?

Subject: Property Tax ememption for prisoners

I have a taxpayer who has been prison for a number of years. He has paid his property taxes right along but has recently been told that he might be entitled to an exemption. I have asked the Dept. of Taxes for any info but they have not heard of any such ruling. Has any other town been faced with this situation ?
