Hi Susan,

This is what I have done, if they are breeders and are selling they would need to get a Special License for Breeders which is $30.00, for the first 10 dogs plus a $1.00 per tag for rabies control, $31.00 total. $3.00 per dog after 10 dogs. It is still called a Kennel Permit.

Pet Dealer Permit is $25.00 (3 or more litters a year) plus the special license and $1.00 per tag $56.00 total.

You would get the forms (two carbons) from Department of Agriculture or Department of Corrections.

Yes, they would have to be kept inside a fenced in area.

Hope this helps Susan.

Subject: KENNEL LICENSE

Hi,

Just wondering what the requirements are for someone getting dog tags for a kennel permit. I have someone that was asking about it. They have about 6 dogs and do breed some. They have always in the past just registered the dogs individually. Do they have to have some kind of a license from the state? Also from looking at the law it looks like the dogs should be kept in a fenced in are and only taken out on a leash for teaching purposes. I have never had one in all these years.
