September 15: Forestry and Conservation – A Maine Perspective with Dr.
Bernd Heinrich, Biology professor at UVM and author of dozens of articles
and books including Ravens in Winter, A Year in the Maine Woods and The
Trees in My Forest.
September 22: Putting Conservation Biology into Action with Tom Butler,
editor of Wild Earth magazine, and John Davis, Biodiversity Chairman for
The Foundation of Deep Ecology and co-founder of The Wildlands Project.
September 29: Bats of Vermont with Dr. Steve Trombulak, professor at
Middlebury College, conservation biologist and author of numerous
scientific and conservation articles, and co-editor of The Future of the
Northern Forest.
October 6: Conservation Challenges and Planning in the Adirondacks with
Mike Dinunzio, Director of Research and Education for The Adirondack Council.
October 13: Amphibians in Clay Plain Forests with Mark Ward, Field
Naturalist Program, University of Vermont.
October 20: Dolphin Conservation in Australia, with Rachel Smolker, writer
and dolphin biologist.
October 27: Restoring the Eastern Timber Wolf to the Northern Forest—A
Vision for the Future, with Kristin DeBoer, Program Coordinator for
RESTORE: The North Woods.
November 3: Adirondack Lakes—Beyond Acid Rain with Curt Stager. Acting
Assistant Dean and Associate Professor of Biology at Paul Smith’s College, NY.
November 10: Loon Conservation and Biology in Vermont and Minnesota with
Eric Hanson, Loon biologist for Vermont Institute of Natural Science.
November 17: To be announced.
November 27: Ecological Reserve Design in New Hampshire with Mike Stevens,
Assistant Director of Science & Stewardship for the NH Nature Conservancy
and graduate of the Field Naturalist Program.
December 1: To be announced.
December 8: Following the Bears—Connecting landscape in Vermont with Nancy
Bell, VT representative for the Conservation Fund and bear researcher.
