A series of workshops designed for graduate students, junior faculty, fellows, and clinical researchers. Participants will learn about software, web sites, and databases that facilitate finding, managing, and publishing the results of scholarly research.

Where: Dana Medical Library's computer classroom

When: Six consecutive Wednesdays from 12 noon-1 pm, repeated each Thursday

September 11 and 12: Getting Your Bearings

Start exploring the research process as well as various e-resources available from the library. Learn how to master practical skills such as accessing e-resources from off campus.  Ideal for those new to UVM.

September 18 and 19: Advanced Literature Searching Skills

Discover expert search techniques to refine and focus your literature searches. Learn to set up auto-alerts, save searches, and create online bibliographies.

September 25 and 26: Advanced EndNote

Maximize EndNote's potential by using information management features such as groups, notes, and keyword fields. Learn how to create information-rich annotated bibliographies or cite sources within your paper with Cite While You Write.

October 2 and 3: Sources and Databases Beyond PubMed

Explore the best that databases like Web of Science, Google Scholar, and Ovid MEDLINE have to offer for your research.

Evaluate approaches to assessing journal quality, review author's rights, and explore alternative publishing models.
