This will be a great year for us to talk about students/data/policies. I
have always had a vetting process in place for software...what about you?
This from my recent update to teacher manuals:
Click-Wrap software is software that is acquired by simply clicking
“accept” to the provider’s Terms of Service (TOS). With Click-Wrap
agreements, the act of clicking a button to accept the TOS serves to enter
the provider and the school into a contract (like signing a paper one).
Teachers who wish to use an online service where student information is
collected or user accounts are created must first check with their
principal, and then the Director of Technology. Teachers should use the
online *Software Approval Form* to request a review of a new software
product prior to entering students in new free or purchased software
systems.
Formal Software Contracts should be reviewed by the Director of Technology
and signed by the Superintendent or a designee.
What does your short list for vetting look like? (Ad tracking, age
restrictions, etc.) Do share! How would you write the paragraph above?
