Whether or not a device can run Google's Android Market (and whether Amazon will let the Fire)
is a whole nother can of worms.
The Kindle Fire is Amazon's version of Android, designed for Amazon by Amazon to sell Amazon's products. I don't think they intend (nor need) to play well with Google.
there are a bunch of competing apps stores on android, some people call that choice, some fragmentation.
I think good education apps will come to the Kindle Fire, but since its only been on the market for a month (though Amazon's app store has been out for a year) its still early.
Android Apps in Education websites and even perhaps some information about device compatibility. I have no idea about how one determines if an app is compatible with the different android phones and/or tablets, including the Kindle Fire. Just my first series of Google searches haven't been fruitful to this point.
