Dear SftP:

        Prompted by Diane's e-mail, I would like to beg your indulgences
once again and make another List-wide inquiry.  Since I have interviewed
many of you for my thesis, I may have had on occasion to borrow documents.
I would like to know if, as is the case with Diane and Gary Laison, I have
been negligent in returning anything?  Diane's e-mail spurred me to
ascertain if I do, in fact, have other "borrowed" items; a quick check of
my files tells me no, but I want to make sure.

        Diane's message also leads me to something of a public apology
to those interviewed for my thesis.  I have been dragging my feet, so
to speak, in finishing my project.  Rest assured that I now have a
completion date "staring me in the face," as it were.  So to those I have
interviewed and to whom I have not written, I do apologize for my silence.

        Wanting to close this message on an "up beat," I have a copy
of the preliminary report published by the AAAS Planning Committee
entitled, "Documenting Post-War Activist Science."  The Planning Committee
met earlier this year, and was composed of archivists, historians of
science, and other "science studies" scholars.  I believe the report
might be of interest to members of the List, and I am willing to send a
photocopy to whoever would like one.  Or you can request one from the AAAS:

PS: I now have copies of most of the MAG Newsletters as mentioned in
Diane's e-mail, but I am still lacking those put out in 1971, and the
fall/winter issue(s) of 1972 (if produced).
