Dear Peter:

Someone whom I would recommend highly is Charlie Schwartz. If
anybody knows about this issue, andis an absolutely terrific public
speaker. In fact, Charlie's written long and hard about the militarization
of physics in America, in particular. Mike Casper at Carleton College
would be another outstanding speaker on this topic, though Mike's forte is
policy issues.

You can reach Charlie or Mike at the following e-mail address and/or
office telephone number:

                (510) 642-4427 [log in to unmask]
                (507) 646-4388 [log in to unmask]

From the historical community, Paul Forman is THE most
enlightened on this issue, IMHO. Unfortunately Paul might be embroiled
in his lawsuit (against the Smithsonian) at the moment, and would thus be
unavailable to speak. But he can provide you with other possible
candidates... Here's Paul's telephone/e-mail:

                (202) 357-2820 [log in to unmask]
                National Museum of American History
                Smithsonian Institution

        I hope this helps.

                Best,

                 Pat
