These (reforms and technical fixes) are not in any sense the same thing.

The point I am making is pretty basic. If your view, like Bernstein's, is
that socialism is a distant dream that has no practical relevance to what we
do now, then your goal becomes the reform of capitalism, and sadly a
reformed capitalism won't stop environmental disaster. The alternative is
not to reject reforms, but to see the fight for them as part of building a
movement for radical change in our lifetimes (i.e.not hoping it will emerge
50 or 100 years from now). You seem to be convinced that such a movement is
impossible, to which I can only reply that if it is, then hold on for the
new dark ages.

But I am not convinced.
