IN case any members of this discussion group are not yet aware of it,
KPFA, the Berkeley radical radio station has been essentially taken off
the air by the national board of the Pacifica foundation. or more
information see http://www.radio4all/freepacifica or
http://www.freepacifica.net The pretext was that staff members talked
on air about the conflict withthe board An e-mail from a board member to
the chair Mary Francis Berry makes clear the lockout was planned in
advance, however. It also reveals plans afoot to sell either KPFA or
WBAI for 65 to 75 million, i.e. to a commercial broadcaster, thus
emptying the airways of content even more completely.
I don't even listen to KPFA but I am still apalled and angry at this
action.
