Hey Everyone - Deaf & Disability Awareness Month is quickly becoming a
huge success, but we need your continued support to maintain our
momentum. Please join us, in collaboration with National Coming Out Week,
today at 3:00 p.m., Memorial Lounge for Eli Clare's presentation "Climbing
the Mountain"

Event Details:
Oct. 9, Tuesday, 3:00 - 4:30 p.m., Memorial Lounge, Waterman Building
Climbing the Mountain: Social Change and Myths about Disability
presented by Eli Clare, author of Exile and Pride: Disability,
Queerness, and Liberation. Using story and theory, Eli Clare will
explore some myths and stereotypes about disability, disability's
connection to other kinds of marginalization based on race, class,
gender, and sexuality, and how we can create social change. Eli will
offer an intellectually rich and eye-opening perspective on disability
issues that truly shed light on complex-and under-examined-dynamics of
our culture and society and may very well change the way participants
view disability for the rest of their lives.
