Mike,

I do know that the basic Taconic>22>7 (I can find out the details, if
you want, BC me) is THE fastest way from NYC to Charlotte or
Burlington, assuming your not traveling at supersonic speeds and
decent conditions. My boss has been regularly driving between NYC and
Charlotte for almost forty years and he swears by this route. His
record is 4:45 minutes and that's traveling no faster than 70.

You should be able to pick up Rt 17 from 22, but I don't know how that
compares to the I-91 route, which for you, really may be the best way.
