Of course if you do stay in the valley, you'll probably want to rent
a car, and it should be a 4x4, consuming some of the cost savings but
giving you ultimate flexibility. Although it's possible to rely on
UTA public transport, it's awkward at best. If you decide to stay
downtown for more restaurant and club options, getting up-canyon can
involve a transfer or two and a couple of hours of travel logistics.
If you don't want to spend the $$ on a 4x4, be prepared to leave the
econobox rental at one of the park'n'ride lots on certain days.

There's also the Inn at Snowbird and the Iron Blosam Lodge, both
cheaper alternatives to the Cliff. Depending when you come, Snowbird
also has pretty good early and late season deals.
