Marginally cheaper. The three options (all with the same 500 people
per hour uphill capacity as the present lift) considered in detail were:
1. A new Single Chair ($1.3 million) – A completely new Single
with ramp unload, modern tube towers, and a modern drive and return
station.
2. Rebuild of the current Single Chair ($1.4 million) – Reuse of
the present lattice towers and line. New Chairs with the same design
as the original chairs; consistent aesthetics; and state of the art
components improved for safety, reliability, and maintainability.
Drive components would housed in the present drive building. The
current return station would be reused, with improvements in the
bullwheel and carriage design. This option would utilize an electric
regenerative drive with full diesel backup.
3. A new Double Chair ($1.1 million). Entirely new, “industry
standard” double chair. A double with 800 people per hour (“pph”)
capacity would cost $1.3 million and a double with 1,000 pph capacity
would cost $1.6 million.
Co-op voted for option 2.
I voted for a 120 person tram up the backside from Jerusalem so I
wouldn't have to drive over the gap during snowstorms.
