I would've said MRG but doesn't look like any lifts will be spinning
there. Could be turned into a powder playground with skins later this
week...

I honestly have no information on Bolton wind holds (TOS, Jim B., anyone
with Bolton knowledge?) but Jay and Stowe are usually touch and go. Jay
seems to go down easiest with the Tram and Freezer. I know personally at
Stowe that the exact direction of the wind can make a huge difference. Its
usually a crapshoot but on high wind days I expect the Gondi and Quad to go
down. If the double can be run, you can get to 90% of Mansfield's trails
and hike 10 minutes to the last 10%. Midway area takes a little more work
to get to. Spruce Peak high speed lifts can now be run in high winds and
are usually open during storms, now. Last upslope day when the quad and
gondi were down we went over and spun some runs on the Sunny Spruce Quad
and Sensation Quad which were running. Those lifts were installed fairly
low the ground, under the tree level, with a lot of towers so they can run
in the wind...worked on that powder weekend when the quad, gondi, and
double were down.

I don't know about Smuggs but is probably worth checking out...

Sugarbush did well during the last wind event with Castlerock and some
others running from the reports to this list. Personally, I like it when
some lifts are running but not all. For most New England mountains, it
only takes a little traversing and maybe 10 minutes of hiking to get to the
real goods when the "secondary" lifts are running.

The other bonus in VT is that all the mountains are relatively close to
each other with the exception of Jay. In an hour you can hit
MRG/SB/Bolton/Smuggs/Stowe and see who's got what open, especially if you
are buying day tickets.
