.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure located over central Canada will build south into the
North Country today with clearing skies and comfortable temperatures
on breezy north winds. Little change is expected on Sunday with more
sunshine and mild temperatures, but rain showers and cooler weather
arrives for Monday and Tuesday of this upcoming week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY/...
As of 354 AM EDT Saturday...Forecast challenge will be timing of
clearing from northwest to southeast across our cwa today. A
surface cold front has pushed thru and much drier and slightly
cooler temps will occur today across our fa. Soundings some
lingering moisture btwn 850mb and 700mb this morning, before
much drier air arrives by this aftn, supporting mostly sunny
skies. A few fair wx cumulus clouds will develop as upslope flow
on north winds prevail this aftn. Good mixing and 925mb winds
of 20 to 25 knots support localized gusts up to 25 mph,
especially in the aligned north/south valleys. Progged 850mb
temps cool btwn 10-12c today, supporting highs mainly in the
70s, with near 80f for the lower ct river valley near VSF.
Tonight...north/northeast flow conts as sfc high pres remains
over southern Canada and weak low pres develops across the mid
Atlantic states. Have noted some winds btwn 500 and 1000 feet
agl of 20 to 30 knots, which may limit temps from completely
bottoming out. Will mention lows from the mid/upper 30s slk/nek
to lower 50s warmer valleys. Mostly clear skies will prevail.
Sunday...Mid/upper level ridge overhead and 1020mb sfc high pres
located over central Maine will provide cwa with another beautiful
day with low humidity values and comfortable temps. Some mid/upper
lvl clouds will increase from southwest to northeast aft 18z as
progged 1000 to 500mb rh fields expand north ahead of s/w trof.
Progged 850mb temps range from 9c nek to 11c southwest
slv...supporting mainly 70s for highs again. Light northeast winds
will become southeast during the aftn.

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...
As of 351 AM EDT Saturday...Short wave ridge shifts east late
Sunday night as deepening trough moves across the Great Lakes
and into the CWA on Monday. An associated shortwave dives down
from Canada quickly allowing a closed low to form at the base of
the trough. This upper low shifts southeastward across the
region Monday and will bring cool and wet weather throughout the
day. Western and Southern counties will see 0.25" - 0.50" of
QPF while the northern counties will see 0.25" or less as the
low shifts through. Expect overnight lows in the lower 40s to
low 50s Sunday night with highs only in the mid 50s to mid 60s
on Monday.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
As of 351 AM EDT Saturday...The aforementioned low will continue
be the main factor in the weather to start the long term as the
low gets hung up and remains over New England through Wednesday
night. Showery activity and continued clouds will lead to more
cool and wet days through the midweek point. The low continues
its slow southeast track through this point before finally
getting over the Atlantic and moving off to the northeast
Wednesday night. This leads to a short reprieve as a ridge of
high pressure moves in to the CWA Thursday, bringing drier and
warm conditions for the back end of the week with another chance
for a shot of precip next Friday. Expect low temperatures in
the 40s through Wed night and 40s and 50s afterwards. Highs will
be in the upper 50s to 60s through Wednesday and then will push
to the low to mid 70s by the end of next week.

.AVIATION /08Z SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Through 06Z Saturday...Crnt conditions vary from vfr at
btv/mpv/mss/pgb to mvfr at slk and ifr at rut. Expect intervals
of ifr cigs to prevail at rutland thru 08z, before trending
toward mvfr and eventually vfr by sunrise. Also, a brief period
of ifr cigs/vis possible at slk thru 08z...associated with
boundary and leftover moisture. Elsewhere, anticipating mainly
vfr conditions to prevail with perhaps a period of mvfr cigs at
mpv/btv thru early this morning. North/northeast winds at 4 to 8
knots develops this morning and with better mixing some
localized gusts up to 20 knots or so is anticipated today.
Developing low level jet btwn 800-1200 feet agl is expected btwn
02-06z tonight, which may cause localized areas of wind
shear/turbulence.

Sunday: VFR. NO SIG WX.
Sunday Night: VFR. Chance SHRA.
Monday: Mainly MVFR, with areas VFR possible. Chance SHRA.
Monday Night: MVFR/IFR conditions possible. Chance SHRA.
