While this may be true ;-), I am one who does not like the traversing at
Alta, however, Marc1's perspective on them has helped me enjoy them more.
The last time I was there, I was getting the hang of it, though too many
rightways traverses really wrecked my right leg. I was thrilled to get to
Snowbird where the traverses are half the distance and the terrain seems
to be steeper. I am totally happy with a long traverse if it actually
brings me to better terrain/snow than what we had been passing by along
the way. This is not always the case, though it is usually the goal.

(been shopping for a cheap SLC plane ticket, as my snowjones is getting
bad, especially after the niar. I need a fix, and I need it bad...and it
doesn help that Frank text messages me from the chairlift to tell me about
the sick powder he's been skiing this week at The Canyons. Unforunately it
is prime time and plane tix are around $800)
