A quiver?  She's 8!

I could argue that being able to ski reasonably well on one pair of
skis in all conditions (including race course conditions) is a
pre-requisite to getting more skis.

Jeez!

8 year old shouldn't be made to feel pressured or bad because they
don't win - especially if they have "race" skis - they should be
learning about skiing generally, themselves and their new friends.  If
she's into it (racing), and any good, it will "happen" for her.

She's 8!  (remember that...)
