beware, o traveler--the road is moving too, teardrop 3/8
was it ikkyu? maybe, but wulff
thought it applied to physics
as much as philosophy. my skins
held just enough friction to sneak
up on the drop-in. we broke in
to the trees at the usual juncture,
but took it out on the high road.
evidence of our predecessors became
scarce as we worked our way to
the margin. i've taken this course
more times than i can count, but
each step is new. bands of crows
have been scrounging in the corn
stubble down in the valley, their
irruptions a mystery. seems they
always gather in large numbers by
late winter, looking much the same--
but as the descendents of crows
from before, these congregations
were already saved in the blood.
in the end, i came down alone
and stood in one place and watched
the stars swirl, light reaching beyond
the lives of their origingal source.
