Probably because they weren't the carrying the rope. You don't want to go 
anywhere near a hole like that unroped, because the odds of other parts of 
that snow bridge collapsing are high. Crevasses are linear, so it isn't just an 
isolated hole that she fell into -- the same crevasse is bridged to either side of 
the hole, and the snow around the hole probably overhangs on all sides. Skiing 
down to it and standing on the edge is the last thing you want to do. If the 
people filming don't have gear (highly likely on the Vallee Blanche, as crazy as 
that sounds), the best thing to do is stay put and flag down someone who 
does. Ideally, two people in the group should have ropes, so you're not 100% 
screwed if the guy with the rope falls in. 

Also, they aren't skiing along a cornice, that's another crevasse to the left.
