I live on Route 30, and the route from my house to Albany is pretty
much the same one you got in reverse. Some people say that Exit 2 off
Rt. 4 to 22A to 74 to 30 is faster than Exit 4 to Rt.30. Having driven
both of them many times, I'd say it's a wash. Rt. 30 is far prettier
and has no trucks, but is more prone to icy roads. 22A is flat and
fast, but has lots more traffic than 30 (including those trucks). If
there's no ice, I usually take 30 because it's more fun and prettier.

From my house to MRG, it's 30 > 7 > River Rd. > 116 > 17 over App
Gap. Forget Lincoln Rd.; it's closed in winter.
