FWIW, Accuweather's Joe Lundberg, heretofore one of the more depressing
reads for New England snow fans, is now beginning to come around to the
idea that a pattern change is in fact afoot.  No one seems to be sure
where the Friday/Saturday system is headed, or what type of precip it will
bring, but there seems to be an emerging consensus that next week will be
much colder than this week.  The week after will repeat the trick in a
step function that Joe Bastardi often refers to.  Importantly, Lundberg
indicates that the NAO forecast is trending negative in the means, thereby
potentially setting up blocking that will lock an East Coast trough in
place.   We might be in for a pleasant holiday season.
